| This 3.5 hour CPR and AED course prepares the layperson to respond to choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies - and how to use an automated external defibrillation (AED) unit in conjunction with CPR. This NSC course meets the latest 2010 CPR and ECC Guidelines using a combination of instructor/Video-Self-Instruction and hands-on training. Students will learn how to: take action in an emergency, assess victims, provide basic life support (including airway management, breathing and circulation and how to use an AED. | NSC Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogens | |||
| Are you in compliance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard? Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030 requires employers to safeguard employees who face potential occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. This NSC instructor-led course helps reduce these risks by focusing on how to protect employees from blood and airborne pathogens and what to do if exposures occur. This program is ideal for first responders, dentists, dental hygienists, lab workers, police, EMT's and paramedics, animal handlers and custodians - anyone exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials will benefit from this program. Students taking this course will learn about bloodborne (HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, etc) and airborne pathogens (tuberculosis, flu, etc.), how to prevent infection from bloodborne pathogens, and how to properly clean contaminated surfaces. | This instructor-led classroom course teaches employees how to recognize everyday emergencies and how to care for an injury or illness until professional help arrives. NSC First Aid is taught using a combination of instructor/"Watch-Then-Practice" and hands-on training. Students taking this course will learn: bleeding control, wound care, how to deal with bone, joint and muscle injuries, burn care, poisioning care, choking car, how to recognize common sudden illnesses and what to do to render care among many other critical emergency care skills. Students will receive as part of the course a student workbook with full-color photographs, illustrations and skills demonstrations; a NSC First Aid Quick Guide, course DVD, and nationally recognized First Aid course completion card. | |||

This course meets 2010 CPR and ECC guidelines. Students taking this course will learn how to: take action in an emergency, basic life support, bleeding and wound care, shock, burns and poisoning care, how to recognize and care for common sudden illnesses, cold and heat emergency care, and how to care for children with disabilities.
